Wow--another week has flown by. At this rate, I will certainly not be ready to go back to work in September! Sorry for the delay in posting new pictures but really to find time in the day to do this is tough--I am sure it will get easier, but when I have a few extra minutes there is 100 other things I think I could be doing (napping, washing bottles, washing clothes, etc) :-)
Alexander will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and it is hard to believe it has been that long! He has settled nicely into a routine so far. He eats every 3-4 hours and sleeps in between. Daddy has the "magic hand" of getting him to sleep in the middle of the night when Mommy has rocked until she can't rock anymore. We have moved him to his "big boy" crib, instead of the bassinet just a couple of nights ago. He seems to like it just fine. He loves the mobile above, but the thing just doesn't play music long enough!! He has had a really tough time in the last week with feeding. He loves to eat, hates to burp and then has a really rough time for the hour or so after feedings with stomach pains and tons of spitting up. Very trying for me as well as him, as you can imagine. We talked with the doctor today and have switched his formula to Enfamil Gentlecare. We have done one feeding with this so far and things seem to be much better. Cross your fingers. It is strange though--he was spitting up horrible and crying in pain with the formula as well as my breast milk (regardless of what I was eating). We will try this new formula for 3-4 days and if it works, great! If not, we will be switching to soy.
Mommy is getting better. Finally able to move around more and not having to rely on everyone else's help 24/7. Those of you that know me well, know that has been rough anyway :-). I still can't believe how hard recovery after a c-section really is. I guess it really didn't help I ended up with an infection and on antibiotics, so the pain was that much worse and fighting a fever in the meantime. Now, my battle will be drying up my breastmilk, which is already painful. Both emotionally and physically. I am only able to get about 5 ounces in a 24 hour period, he is not tolerating it at all, and with the time put into pumping is time I could be spending with him, since he is not tolerating it well anyway. This has been a tough decision for me and I have gone back and forth on it, but I think I have finally made up my mind.
Eric and I went today and registered our little one for daycare. He will officially start school on Sept. 8th. The week before, we have 1 day that we go in and stay a little while, staying with him the whole time, then we have 1 other day that they want us to drop him off for an hour or so to get him used to his new teacher and the surroundings. Hopefully this will be harder on us, than him! :-)
I think that is all for the update so far. Many many thanks for those of you family members that have been by to visit, dedicated so much time in helping us around the house, bringing over food, etc. We appreciate it very much. To all of our friends that are still waiting to come by--I have not forgotten about you!! I am just waiting until I know I feel better and more of what Eric's schedule is--hopefully he will have more time off soon. Poor guy has worked, worked, worked since the baby was born, due to staffing issues at his job. I guess that is what happens when you are the "big boss"! Even with the amount of hours he has put in at work, he has been phenomenal at home as well! I always knew he would be a wonderful daddy but he has surpassed everything I could have ever imagined!
Here are a few more recent pictures of the little one!
