Our 1st Kitchen Remodel

So, Eric's parents are completely redoing their kitchen, among other things to update their home. I must say they are replacing some really nice things that we thought we could use to "update" ours. For starters, Eric thought it would be a great idea to take their enameled cast iron sink. Don't get me wrong, the sink is NICE, but Eric seemed to think it would be a walk in the park....I had other ideas, but we won't go there just yet. After spending a little over an hour to get our stainless steel sink out, fighting with the "oh so gross" garbage disposal, we were ready to install our new sink.

Here is our new sink, upside down on the hole it should fit in. Can I just tell you, there is nothing light about cast iron. Mrs. Currie tried to warn me not to lift it, but I thought, "what the heck...I am young...I can do it..." Yes I can, but not too many times!!

After realizing we had to cut the copper pipes from the new sink, and we had the wrong size pipe cutter, we made a trip to Home Depot. Not to mention, a very yummy pit stop at Smithfields Chicken and Barbeque for dinner!

We get back home, get the adhesive layed out and flip the sink over....gosh that sounds so easy now! Let me tell you, that is the last time I will lift anything cast iron, for a while any way. Here comes the fun part! What is supposed to be the easy part....getting it all hooked up underneath. After 3 hours of struggling with compression fittings..........we're calling a plumber.....tomorrow!!

So, here is our new sink, stuck to the countertop, just not functioning so much right now! Know of any good plumbers??? I have a new respect for plumbers and now know why they charge $70/hr! However, KUDOS to my husband who did a wonderful job and kept a killer attitude the whole way through!

And we are going to install our own hardwood floors one day soon?!?!?

BODIES!!

Gross, huh? NO! You must go see BODIES, the exhibition at Streets of Southpoint! It was the coolest thing I think I have seen.....EVER! Ok, many of you might think, it is because I am so in love with medical stuff, but even Eric loved it! It shows you everything about your body--bones, muscles, nerves, different organs....It is expensive, $25/person, so get the coupon in the paper or show your student ID! I won't spoil it for anyone...you just HAVE to go see it!

Friends

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

Eric & I have just spent the past evening enjoying a BIRTHDAY dinner with my dad, mom & stepdad at O'Charlies. Dad had a rough week and really didn't want to go out tonight but my hard-headed mother insisted! We went to O'Charlies near his home and as soon as we sat down, he recognized some guy at the bar. That guy ended up being cousins with one of my dad's best friends that he had not seen in years! It was such a happy ending for what had been a yucky week for all! He got to catch-up and enjoy the company of old friends...

Something that made me think back to all the friends I have lost touch with and made me cherish the ones that I have kept contact with that much more. Just a reminder to

HOLD ON TO THE FRIENDS YOU HAVE!

YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU MIGHT NEED THEM!

FRIENDSHIP HAS TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO HAVE IN LIFE!

Welcome Isaac Landon

Our best friends, Michelle & Gage had their first little boy on March 30th. We have been anxiously waiting little Isaac Landon's arrival since Michelle announced they were pregnant back in August! So, here he is, 2 weeks early, weighing only 5lbs, 15oz and only 18 inches long. When Eric and I went to visit them in the hospital, Eric thought he was going to get away without holding him, fearing, "he might break". But after I assured him there wouldn't be any breaking, he enjoyed holding the cutie. So, Isaac, WELCOME to this CRAZY, CRAZY world!
