I Passed the HESI!!

Ok, so school is back in full swing! I was chosen to do my precpetor rotation on 5300 at Duke--a pediatrics floor and I can't wait!!

Another big milestone over and behind me--the HESI test!! DTCC requires all students to pass this "board like" exam called the HESI before they will let you take the NCLEX. We were all given a chance to take the exam today. If we didn't pass, we would be given another opportunity the 1st apart of May and again in June (yes, after graduation!) We needed a 900 to pass and I got a 990. I almost passed out when my score appeared on the screen. So glad that is behind me, however it did give me a greater idea of what to study for NCLEX.

Baby news--we go for our next appt on Jan. 31st. This is supposed to be the big appt where we can find out the sex of our child but I believe Eric and I have decided (after much persuasion from Eric!) not to know. Part of me really wants to know and other part is siding with my darling husband. Not many times in life do we get to enjoy GOOD surprises! I am thinking of telling the doctor to find out, not let us know but seal it in an envelop in case I want to know later. :-) Do I really trust myself....hmmm.....
Other than that...Feeling pretty good. Just a few boughts of "the yucks". Beginning to feel more pregnant with everything stretching and growing. Still just can't wait to feel the little one kick!

Where is All The Energy From??

We went to our 1st trimester screening appt on the 8th and were able to get more pictures! That is Eric's favorite part! For someone that is not a picture person himself, he is loving seeing pictures of his little one! All the tests for chromosomal defects have come back negative, not that I thought we were high risk but...just one less thing to worry about.

Here is our "jumping bean"!! If you look hard enough you can distinguish head (toward the right side of pic) with a little button nose. Dont' worry if you can't make it out--I know how hard these u/s pics are to decipher!

Seriously, the radiology tech doing the ultrasound was amazed by how much our little pumpkin was moving all around. Kicking it's legs, waving its arms, flipping over completely. It was difficult just getting a picture that was not totally blury! It was so much neater just sitting there watching it! In fact, right before we were finished, the baby flipped over and threw it's little arm up as if it were waving!! Eric even apologized now for all the kicking and punching of my ribs I have in store for me later down the road. :-)

Sweetest Sound in the World

That was the "Sweetest sound in the world". Today we went to our 12 week appt and was able to hear the baby's heart beat. What a wonderful feeling!! Baby has a strong heartbeat of about 150 right now. Does that mean boy or girl?!

It is so nerve racking going from appt to appt right now with the feeling of "not knowing". I guess I will feel better once I can actually feel "Baby Currie" move.

Not much to tell right now except I am out of school, on winter break and loving the time off. Spring semester starts back soon and I am really dreading the next few months. Work, school, precepting, trying to find a job.......but the best thing of all--preparing for our new arrival!

Pregnancy is going well. Not what I would call AM sickness. More pm sickness/nausea. If I don't eat early enough I get so sick feeling that I can't eat at all. I am starting to get headaches, but MD says blood pressure is good so it is just hormonal right now. Eric is the perfect dad to be. Paying attention to every little thing and coming up with some really nutty names in his spare time. More on that later...
